Annual Summary 2010-2011 School Year
Clarendon Christian Learning Center ministered to approximately 750 students during the 2010-2011 school year. Total enrollment was up from the previous year due to an increase in our primary and high school programs!
During the summer of 2010 CCLC purchased and renovated a portable unit housing two classrooms and two bathrooms. Our goal was to house junior high and high school students at the same location thereby eliminating the need to bus students in these two programs. In the latter part of the school year we purchased a 22 passenger bus to accommodate increased enrollment.
At the high school level, 84 students were given academic credit as we surveyed the Old and New Testaments during first and second semester respectively. Other than the Bible, Firm Foundations was the main curriculum. Students participated in Kid’s Day by praying with folks and posting their prayer requests to a large wooden cross. They also encouraged Scripture memory. Students also attended Fields of Faith (an FCA event) and a large group of students travelled to Charlotte, NC to tour the Billy Graham Library and serve at Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child. The group sorted and packed shoeboxes to be sent around the world. In March, students participated in Water Missions, International fundraiser walk in Charleston, SC. Throughout the year, various pastors and laymen were invited in to teach on particular subjects from participating in campus ministry in college to a brief introduction to Revelation.
A total of 45 junior high students participated in one of two semesters this year. Students were taught from the Bible using the Firm Foundations curriculum. This curriculum is unpublished and we are working with the publishers to edit it. Students participated in the CCLC annual cleanup day. At year end each student was given an ESV Bible and a prayer journal and encouraged to remain actively in the Word over the summer.
At year end, 325 elementary students, grades 4-6, successfully completed a Bible course at CCLC attending one day per week all year. The curriculum used was Firm Foundations. Students were encouraged to memorize Bible verses and also viewed the Jesus Video for Children. As a mission project, classes packed boxes to send to soldiers in Afghanistan. At year end, each student assembled a personal Scripture memory/prayer journal and was encouraged to use it daily over the summer months.
296 primary level students, grades 2-3, also attending one day per week all year, were taught from Route 52. A flannel board and basic crafts were introduced to reinforce the Bible lessons. All second graders were presented with Hands On Bibles at year end.
Each year CCLC is more convicted of the need to build a sense of missions in our students. As we strive to incorporate opportunities to serve others, we have reaped the blessing of becoming the recipient of similar efforts by local churches. New Covenant PCA Men of the Covenant has adopted CCLC as an outreach project. These men shared a devotional, cooked lunch, and gave Christian necklaces to our Jr. High and High School students at Christmas time. In the spring, they led a “clean up” day working alongside students inside and outside at both CCLC buildings. They have also done much skilled maintenance and repair work bearing the cost and labor.
This year we were also blessed to receive the honor of hosting the School Ministries Annual Conference!! One of our sponsoring churches, Manning United Methodist Church, graciously offered their facilities and staff to assist in this exciting event and CCLC students involved themselves in everything from making placemats to participating in the program!
End of class surveys done with grades 4-12 indicate a significant number of first time decisions and recommitments to Christ. God has proven faithful to grow and sustain this ministry through twelve school terms – to Him be the praise and the glory forever!

06-11CCLCNEWS.pdfAnnual Summary 2008-2009 School Year
Clarendon Christian Learning Center ministered to approximately 500 students during the 2008-2009 school year. Total enrollment was down from the previous year, however, staff agreed that the quality of classes improved, and students benefited from smaller class size. Numbers given below represent actual numbers taken at the end of the year. They do not include students who did not complete the course but were transferred to other schools or classes.
At the high school level, 27 students were given academic credit as we surveyed the Old and New Testaments during first and second semester respectively. Other than the Bible, Image to Image by Wendy Robinson and Deeper Roots were the main curricula. A trip to Water Missions International afforded a first hand look at humanitarian aid to third world countries and disaster relief worldwide. Students donated their time to this ministry by painting and cleaning inside the headquarters in Charleston, SC. Before the day was over, we were blessed to join Water Missions staff and volunteers in prayer for the safe passage of sustainable water treatment systems being shipped to Sri Lanka as they were loaded into the waiting trailer. We also prayed for an opportunity to share “Living Water.” Other field trips included attending life of Christ dramas “This Man Called Jesus” and “The Thorn” as well as a cookout and devotion time in the teacher’s home. Students also participated in a clean up day at the classroom and painted the building. The final semester class hosted an end-of-the-year tea for supporters where they shared Scripture memory verses, testimonies, songs, and more.
10 junior high students participated in 3, 9-week sessions this year. Students were taught from the Bible and Dare to Be a Daniel.
At year end, 217 elementary students, grades 4-6, successfully completed a Bible course at CCLC attending one day per week all year. The curriculum used was Firm Foundations. Students were encouraged to memorize Bible verses and also viewed the Jesus Video for Children. Year end crafts included: Salvation necklaces (4th graders), Memory verse lines (5th graders), and Memory/Prayer Journals (6th graders).
At the primary school level, 214 students walked over to CCLC where they were taught from Route 52. At year end, all second graders were presented with Hands On Bibles.
CCLC hosted a banquet in the fall of 2008. Participating students recited memory verses and sang. A generous donor provided T-shirts for CCLC students and staff.
In the spring, ten local church choirs participated in the CCLC spring Choir Festival. A small student choir also sang at this event.
The Lord is at work in the lives of CCLC students. Many have committed their lives to Christ and all have benefited from the wise and practical truths of Scripture. Also, the “character counts” theme adopted by our schools, city, and county is enhanced by the “released time” program at Clarendon Christian Learning Center.
Annual Summary 2007-2008 School Year
Clarendon Christian Learning Center experienced a very fruitful year with over 800 students attending.
At the high school level, 21 students were given academic credit as we surveyed the old and new testaments during first and second semester respectively. Other than the Bible, Image to Image by Wendy Robinson was the main curriculum. Occasionally lessons were taught at a local restaurant providing visibility to the community. Two trips to Water Missions International were enjoyed by the students. 2,000 Spanish Bibles were processed and sent to hurricane victims in Honduras. Assistance in sending sustainable water treatment systems to Myanmar and China gave students a clear understanding of missions work.
36 junior high students participated in 4, 9-week sessions this year. What the Bible Says to Me by Scripture Union provided the outline for this Bible-survey class. One class was held in the teacher’s home demonstrating family devotionals in this setting. Seeing a need for personal relationships and follow-up for young adolescent females, a 2-week summer program for interested students is being planned.
402 elementary students attended CCLC one day per week all year. The curriculum used was Firm Foundations. Two additional classes totaling 17 special needs students were structured using a variety of resources. All elementary students enjoyed a Christmas party at a local café dedicated to providing a Christian atmosphere for young teens.
All students in grades 4-12 were given The Invitation CD by Rick Warren at the end of the year.
At the primary school level, 329 students walked over to CCLC where they were taught from Route 52. At year end, all second graders were presented with Hands On Bibles and all third graders were given a DVD from Global Recordings, The Living Christ.
We can see the hand of God at work daily at CCLC. Many students are asking very good spiritual questions and several have made a decision to ask Christ to be their personal Savior and Redeemer. We consider it an honor to work with these students every day.
