For To Us A Child Is Born

The Second Week of Advent We Focus on Peace.

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

CCLC spends a lot of time in Genesis laying the groundwork for receiving the Prince of Peace. Knowing the story of Creation and the terrible, terrible consequences of Adam and Eve's disobedience is necessary to understanding our own sin nature and need for the Savior. This is one reason the enemy attacks the Truth of Creation in our highest educational institutions. "Did God really say?"

A favorite Christmas carol is from the poem Christmas Bells by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The last 2 stanzas strike a contrast between our hateful world and our Prince of Peace.

And in despair I bowed my head;

"There is no peace on earth," I said;

"For hate is strong

And mocks the song

Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:

"God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!

The Wrong shall fall,

The Right prevail,

With peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Of His kingdom there will be no end!
